The Handball Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon fought hard, humbled neighbours Nigeria and grabbed a qualification ticket to the quarter finals of the ongoing Senior Women’s Handball African Cup of Nations organised at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex since June 8. Her group B member, the DRC also sailed to the quarter finals.
Cameroon edged Nigeria 30-19 in their day-2 outing to grab an early ticket while the DRC defeated Kenyan ladies 42 handballs to 16.
The two are the first to secure places at the semi- finals after winning their first two matches. Cameroon humbled Kenya on day-1 to grab first three points and the DRC did not show mercy on Nigeria either.
Nigeria went on half time this Thursday, June 10 on a highly disputed score of 14-13 in favour of host Cameroon
The second half was a turn around to the Indomitable lionesses in terms of the scores and tact. Cameroon scored 16 times meanwhile her opponent managed just 6 to make a total of 19 at full time
39 shirted Karichma Ekoh Kaltoume, Woman of the match between Cameroon and Nigeria gave Cameroonian fans a good bet for their money and time.
Infact, Ekoh was worth the applauds everytime she touched the ball. She stood out in terms of tact and resilience.
Teammates like Paola Ebanga Baboga , Marie-Paule Balana, Berthe Abiabakon, Noëlle Mben Bediang and others pit up a good show for Cameroon
Nigeria and Kenya are not yet out of the run, they each have a day-3 game and one of them may end up as the best runners up in Group B.
Who is the leader in Group B will be determined on Saturday, June 12 when Cameroon clash with another Central African State, the DRC
