#AfroBasket2021: All Time Medalists

Though one of their first participations was in 1983 in Egypt, the Palancas Negras of Angola have all this while emerged the all time top medalists of the AfroBasket with 11 titles after forty years since their first participation in the African Men’s Basketball Championship

The Pharaohs of Egypt and the Lions of Senegal count five trophies each in the basketball tournament. They two basketballing nations are amongst the favourites in the ongoing 16-nation championship in Kigali Rwanda

Tunisia, Cote D’Ivoire and the Central African Republic all taking part in the 2021 AfroBasket at the Kigali Arena have all won twice at the men’s basketball tournament

The D’Tigers of Nigeria and the North African team of Morocco have both grabbed the title once though statistics put them amongst the top best in the continent.

Nigeria, a favourite at the ongoing 2021 Afrobasket in Rwanda just returned from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The basket ball men’s team stands as runner-up of the 2017 AfroBasket tournament that was won by Tunisia.

The basketball lions of Cameroon goes to Rwanda unfortunately with no coveted trophy in the tournament. The boys of Lazare Ngono only managed to be runner-up in 2007 when all powerful Angolan team fought hard and emerged winners.

The host, Rwanda has never won the African title before and this may just be their golden opportunity to host and win.
