2021 AfroBasket Women: The schedule of the Quarterfinals

First four teams to make it to this highly contested level of the game were host, Cameroon neighbouring Nigeria, Vice champs Senegal and Mali. Mozambique, Angola, Egypt and Cote D’Ivoire fought hard to seal their seats on the table of this crucial games to be played this Thursday, September 23.

The four match-up will be thus,
# Nigeria vs Cote d’Ivoire
# Senegal vs Mozambique
# Cameroon vs Egypt
# Mali vs Angola

The D’Tigress of Nigeria had it all easy with two successive wins and staying useful in Group B. She will clash with Cote D’Ivoire that humbled Guinea inorder to join the ride of the big eight.

The game is the first in a series of four to be played this Thursday at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex at 11 a.m local time.

Eleven-time champions and present vice champions of the tournament, Senegal will hold hands with Mozambique at 1 pm Cameroonian time.

Mozambique proved a best bet over Kenyan ladies in their fight to secure a space at the quarter finals.

Next match of this day will see host Cameroon in the rectangular court with the North African girls of Egypt at 4 pm

Egypt finished behind favourites Senegal in Group C after overriding Tunisia in a 85-36 game that helped her seal the deal at the quarter final stage in Yaounde.

The Egyptians ladies will have to fight harder this time knowing fully well that they are facing Cameroon and a home crowd though Egypt will enter the court has a two-time champion won in 1966 and 1968.

The last quarter final game at the 26th FIBA Women’s AfroBasket hosted by Cameroon will be between Mali and Angola at 8pm.

Mali still enjoys leadership in Group D after winning two of her first matches while Angola went down hard on Cape Verde to grab this qualification ticket on Wednesday night of September 22 in Yaounde.

The winners of any match will not only move to the superior semifinal stage of the competition but will have automatic qualifications to the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Australia
