Hilaire Ayissi : Public Health Minister sets up investigation team, consoles family

The Public Health Minister, Dr. Manaouda Malachie has set up a team of health experts who will investigate what caused the death of 22-year-old. Hilaire Ayissi.

He met with the team at the Yaounde Central Hospital on September 29 2021. The team is headed by the Inspector General of Medical and Paramedical Services at the Public Health Ministry, Dr. Zoa Nnanga.

After meeting with health experts, he told the press that he had come “to find out what happened. I also came to install the team of investigators we have set up , so that we can know the role played by everyone involved in this incident”.

However, he ceased the occasion to caution against violence on health experts which is on the rise.

“If there is an incident, there legal channels that can be used. We need to respect those who take care of our health. It is unacceptable that we continue to see violence against health personnel. Our interest is to improve the health of Cameroonians”.

The Minister also paid a visit  to the family  of the late Hillaire Ayissi in the Olembe neighborhood in Yaounde. He told the media that equally wanted to hear the family’s version of the incident, and express his condolences.

“ We came to express our condolences to the family of the bereaved. I did not just come to hear their own version of the story, but to express the government’s condolences. Life is precious, and that’s all we have. It is our duty to protect life”.

Before leaving the residence,  has called on the family to cooperate with the investigation team to so that the truth should be known.
