2021 TotalEnergies AFCON: Cameroonian youths excited to live the event
The countdown to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations is getting narrow, and Cameroonians most especially the youths can seemingly wait no more for the long awaited dream to come true. The youths, a great force and unparalleled fan base to football and more specifically the national football team, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are already mobilizing for a fanfare.
Infact, many of them have been counting the days as it will be the first time for them to live the event live in Cameroonian soil. Just some days back, they were on the streets waving with broad smiles as former players trooped into host cities to see for themselves the football and lodging facilities earmarked for the continental bonanza.
Apart from being undying fans of football, the Cameroonian youth who have been actively involved in the construction process of the stadia, hotels, roads, hospitals amongst many others stand tall and proud to see Cameroon sail through this challenging but historic 2021 AFCON.
From the streets to the neighbourhoods, many discussions center around the organisation process and the excitement to watch African football stars like Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah, Riyadh Marez and more play in Cameroon.
One of the sophisticated football structures, the 60000-seater Olembe Stadium, a gift from President Paul to the Cameroonian youths shows the level of importance and the vital role they will play in January 2022 when Cameroon plays host to the 24-nation football event.
The stadium named after President Paul Biya from inception will be another meeting point for these youths who have over the years portrayed an unflinching support to the football teams of Cameroon.
A good number of these youths have shown interest to volunteer as health assistants, stadium aid and security personnel during the AFCON. They have even grouped themselves into fan base and supporter camps just to give the visiting delegations a great moment in Cameroon.
The mobilisation has left none indifferent, infact the AFCON is looming along the streets, the cities and in high places. Before sends a delegation to Cameroon this November, President Paul Biya earlier dispatched a high profiled fact finding team to every corner earmarked to play a vital role come January 2022.
