2022 TotalEnergies Women’s AFCON: Cameroon to clash with the CAR

A total of twenty-one games counting for the first round of the qualifiers for the 2022 Women’s AFCON to be played in Morocco kicks off this Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in stadia across the African continent. The Central African ladies will host the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon though on Cameroonian ground at 2pm at the Japoma Stadium in Douala.

Accordingly, the first round confrontations will run from this Wednesday October 20 to Friday, October 22, 2021 giving room for the return leg games on schedule.

Before meeting up with little known Central African Republic at 2pm this Wednesday, it is important to note that Cameroon has since 2002 ended up on the list of the the last four of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. In 2014, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon finished as runners-up, in 2016 she hosted and was still runners-up, and a bronze medalist in 2018.

The squad made up of heavyweights like Nchout Ajara, Aboudi Onguene amongst many others will not want Central African Republic to stand on their way to the big football event in Morocco come 2022.

The Fauves Ladies of CAR have never succeeded in defeating the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon. Worth noting is the fact that the CAR team has worked hard over the past few years to develop their women’s football squad and Cameroon may be going in for a tough contender unknowingly.

Both teams clash this Wednesday, October 20 at Japoma and the return leg comes up on Sunday, October 24, 2021 this time around in Yaounde.
