The first 8th final match in the Bafoussam pool will kick off this Monday between Guinea and The Gambia.
The Scorpions of The Gambia have crawled majestically to the knock out stage for the first time in the history of AFCON. During their pool matches they won two and drew one match in Pool F.
They finished with 7 points just like Mali. According to FIFA rankings they occupy position number 150.
During the pre match press conference, the coach Tom Saintfiet says their performance in thier pool has suprised many, ” and we want to go a long way in this dream, we want to stay long in Cameroon because we love Cameroon”.
The coach counts on his 27 players who form a very strong team. So far he said his team is Covid-19 free.
This is the team that will be confronting Guinea that emerged second position in pool B with 4 points after Senegal.
The Sily National of Guinea will be meeting this AFCON revelation The Scorpions of Gambia without their Captain Naby Keita, who has been suspended from two consecutive matches after obtaining two yellow cards.
Coach Kaba Diawara said he counts on members of the team to cover the gap.
Their biggest aim is to beat The Gambia and move to the quater final. Both teams have carried out training sessions in Bafang and Bangou respectively to prepare against tomorrows match.
