2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Here is Song’s list of 27

Football lovers in Cameroon woke up to a 27-man squad published by Head Coach of the Indomitable Lions, Rigobert Song as Cameroon prepares to throw weight with the Desert foxes of Algeria in a double confrontation scheduled for March 25 and 29, 2022 in Douala and Blida respectively. The anxiety from fans dragged on for long as the selected players are the ones to see through Cameroon to the 2022 World Cup

The list consist of three shot keepers with a noticeably absence of the 2017 AFCON champion, Fabrice Ondoa who has not been part of the squad for years now. He is amongst the twelves players sidelined from the preselected list of 37.

Most glaring is the coming of two new faces; 16-year Patient Wassou Goue and 26-year old German based player with Hannover 96, Gael Ondoua

The agile teenage striker with Coton Sport of Garoua has proven his worth and has secured a space with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. Patient Wassou Goue was part of the Coton squad that faced off TP Mazembe at the Roumnde Adja Stadium in Garoua on Sunday, March 13, 2022.

He is a golden boot winner of the 2021 Easter Cup

Gael Bella Ondoua on his part is a midfielder with Hannover 96 in Germany and has played with Anzhi Makhachkala and CSKA Moscow in Russia, and Danish club Vejle Boldklub amongst many other clubs in Europe.

The two will join others in the den in their fight to secure a qualification ticket at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Clinton Njie, Christian Bassogog and Jerome Onguene amongst many others are part of the 12 players dropped by Rigobert Song. Arnaud Djoum who featured on the provisional list has been dropped again.

Cameroonian French professional midfielder, Jules Olivier Ntcham who plays with Swansea City in the English Premier League has been called to camp. The 26-year old midfielder will play alongside Zambo Anguissa, Oum Gouet, Hongla, Kunde Malong and others at the midfield.

Cameroon will be vying for her eight participation at the prestigious World Cup in case of a victory over the Desert Foxes of Algeria, Djamel Belmadi’s boys are in their journey for the fifth world cup ticket.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will welcome the North African team on March 25 at the Japoma Stadium in Douala and travel to Blida in Algeria to face off the home team on March 29, 2022 at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium.

The double confrontations will be Rigobert Song’s first outing with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon as the head coach since his appointment on Monday, February 28, 2022, and Cameroonians are looking forward to his output.
