Dikolo Expropriation: Government Halts Operation
Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute has received two separate delegations to discuss issues related to land differences in the Littoral and inter tribal conflict in the North Region.
Dikolo Expropriation
The first delegation came to present the plight of the population dislodged from their homes in the Dikolo neighborhood in Douala.
Their experience was brought to the attention of the Prime Minister – Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute.
Three Members of the National Assembly from Wouri Division were at The Star building to explain the situation on the field and explore ways of adressing the situation.
Honourable Joshua Osih was part of the delegation that visited the Prime Minister. He outlined the challenges the displaced population is already facing.
After the audience, the member of parliament granted an interview to the press.
A halt on the expropriation exercise was announced and an adhoc committee has been setup to examine the situation.
Delegation from Logone and Chari
In December Logone and Chari division was theatre of bloody inter ethnic clashes which resulted in many casualties and disrupted life in the division.
Five months after the confrontations, traditional leaders of the division want want to rediscover the paths to peaceful cohabitation of the different ethnic groups.
Their encounter with Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute is part of their quest for a complete return to normalcy in Logone and Chari division.
His Majesty Djibrine Mahamat; Sultan of Bodo, a member of the delegation outlined steps taken to foster reconciliation.
The traditional rulers of Logone and Chari also expressed gratitude to to Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute. They say they are satisfied with their exchanges with the Head of Government and are comforted by the fact that the government appears to be very aware of the situation and is working towards sustainable peace in the area.
