Fuel: Government Evaluates Situation of Supply

Prime Minister – Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute has called on Ministers of the Energy sector to meticulously implement the measures authorized by the President of the Republic to stop the fuel shortages recorded in Cameroon over the past days.


He was speaking Thursday, July 21, 2022 in Yaounde when he presided over a meeting to assess the situation and draw up medium and long term solutions to address the petroleum saga.

Five ministers sat round the table with prime Minister – Head of Government Joseph Dion ngute to brainstorm on the situation of fuel supply and draw up medium and long term solutions to address the shortages recorded over the past days.

The Ministers of Water and Energy, Communication, Trade, Labour and Social Security and that of Transport were part of the sitting.

Together with the Secretary General and the Director of Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s office, they examined the current situation of fuel supply and measures taken to end the shortage recorded over the past days.

The major information is that measures to address the fuel shortage have already been set in motion.

The Minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Ossomba explained that huge consignment of fuel has also been imported and dispatched to the different stations.

Prime Minister – Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute and the members of cabinet also examined the progress of ongoing simulations concerning a possible increase in prices of petroleum products.

The Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana outlined the social and economic impact of any changes in the prices of petroleum products on the national economy.

The members of government have called on the population to refrain from collecting petroleum products in containers and storing them around their homes.

They say measures already taken will ensure a steady supply of fuel to the country.
