Press Review of August 31, 2022

This August 31, 2022, many newspapers across Cameroon focused on school resumption, the Cameroon – Congo border demarcation meeting and the Mora – Kousseri road amongst others.

#BackToSchool2022: Government’s Assurances

Four Cabinet Ministers granted a joint press conference at the auditorium of the Ministry of Communication in buildup to the 2022/2023 School Year.

The Minister of Communication René Emmanuel Sadi, the Minister of Secondary Education, Prof. Nalova Lyonga, the Minister of Basic Education, Prof. Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa and the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Joseph Le exchanged with pressmen on salient issues.

These members of government presented all the measures taken to make resumption of classes effective on Monday, September 5, 2022, throughout the national territory.

Still on school resumption, L’Eveil Republicain this morning on page 2 presents the background of the special security assessment meeting by the Ministry of Defence. The meeting which was chaired by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Asomo in Yaounde, on August 29, 2022, was aimed at providing security in the national territory prior to school resumption.

Cameroon – Congo Frontier Meeting

Cameroon Tribune in its edition this morning presents the border demarcation meeting between experts from Congo Brazzaville and Cameroon who started meeting in Yaounde yesterday, August 30, 2022. The meeting was chaired by Cameroon’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji to discuss the 400km border road that separates both countries.

The field visit is programmed for Friday, September 2, 2022, in the border localities of the East Region of Cameroon. More details of this story on page 3.

Mora – Kousseri Road: Measures to Prevent Degradation

Administrative authorities in the Far North Region of Cameroon have taken steps to regulate movement on the road that is being destroyed by floods and heavy duty vehicles circulating during bad weather.

The Far North Regional Governor, Midjiyawa Bakary on August 5, 2022 signed a decision banning the circulation of heavy duty vehicles plying the Mora – Kousseri road, while awaiting construction works to resume on the road. Government Seals P. C Kumba Town

The Guardian Post this August 31, 2022, focuses on the crisis that has been rocking the Presbyterian Church Kumba Town in the Meme Division of the South West Region of Cameroon.

The Government, through the Senior Divisional Officer of Meme Ntou’ou Ndong Chamberlain sealed the Church doors yesterday August 30, 2022. Details of this story on Page 4 of the Guardian Post.
