1st National Paralympic Games: 32 Athletes in Attendance
Athletes took part in 100 meters and 200 metres track & field race, short-put, disque course and long jump at the Amadou Ahidjo stadium as well as Taekwondo, table tennis, badminton and weight-lifting at the National Institute of Youth and Sports.
The first edition of the National Paralympic Games was organized by the Cameroon Paralympic committee with 32 para-athletes drawn from six regions of Cameroon among participating.
Presiding at the event, the President of the National Paralympic Committee His Majesty Jean Jacques Ndoudoumou said the paralympic day is aimed at promoting in Paralympic values.
The representative of the Minister of Youth Affairs Civic Education, Léon Sango outlined government’s efforts in honouring athletes.
A gala night to award winners of the first edition of the competition took place at hall of the Banquet hall of the Yaounde City Council. Some renowned artists in the likes of X-Malea and a host of others featured at the event.
