African Synergy: Twenty Years of Fighting HIV / AIDS

The African Synergy against AIDS and Suffering has contributed in reducing the prevalence of HIV / AIDS in Cameroon from about four million new infections per year in the 2000’s to less than one million per year in 2021.

This is a major stride, the Executive Secretary of African Synergy, Jean Stephane Biatcha highlighted in a press conference this November 15, 2022 as the organisation celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Research carried out within the organisation has also contributed greatly to reducing HIV / AIDS mother-to-child infections.

Another record-breaking success the Executive Secretary mentioned is the reduction of stigma towards those living with AIDS. African Synergy has over the years, sensitised all and sundry on the need to stop stigmatising people living with HIV / AIDS.

About the African Synergy against AIDS and Suffering

African Synergy against AIDS and Sufferings is an NGO comprising First Ladies from Africa and other continents, persons of goodwill and scientists who contribute to the achievement of the goals and objectives of the organisation.

The organisation also welcomes former First Ladies of Africa and from other continents, on their request.

African Synergy seeks to put an end to child labour and other forms of child abuse, secures improved living conditions for African rural women and combats HIV / AIDS.

The organisation is an initiative of Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya. She launched it during the 32nd OAU Summit to address problems facing rural women and children in Africa.
