Happy New Year Mr President

The President of Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya has communed with national dignitaries and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Yaounde.

This was during a ceremony to Present New Year wishes to the Head of State this Friday January 6, 2023 at the Unity Palace.

The ceremony which is holding after a two year pulse due to the COVID19 pandemic featured two sequences.
The first phase dedicated to the diplomatic corps was attended by Ambassadors, High Commissioners, charges d’Affair and Representatives of International Organisations accredited to Yaounde.

They took turns to extend their wishes to the Head of State. The ceremonial handshakes was preceded by an overview of the 2022 diplomatic year presented by the Ambassador of Gabon to Cameroon, Paul Patrick BIFFOT, in has capacity as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
He saluted President Paul Biya’s leadership and his role in propelling African development.

The dean described Cameroon’s organisation of the African Cup of Nations as magnificent. He also congratulated the Indomitable Lions for their brilliant performance at the AFCON and the FIFA World Cup, Qatar 2022

His Excellency Paul Patrick BIFFOT also highlighted other important issues that marked 2022 in Cameroon including:
-Participation of Cameroon in World Summits (COP27, COP15)

– The decentralisation process (Creation of House of Chiefs, Bureaus of Regional Councillors etc)
– Fight against #COVID19
– Distinctive Awards


The Dean of the Diplomatic Corpse, Paul Patrick Biffot highlighted the efforts of the Head of State to bring peace and calm to the North West And South West regions, and troubled zones of the country before extending the best wishes of the diplomatic corpse to President Paul Biya while

The President of the Republic, Paul Biya has received New Year wishes from the diplomatic corps. In his response, President made an appraisal of the global situation.

He pointed to crisis in the world and in Africa, noting that irrespective of their nature or reasons to justify them, they are a hindrance to development and affects the local population.
He later proceeded with handshake with each of the diplomats present.

The National Constituted Corps

From the diplomatic saloon, the President of the Republic proceeded to the Banquet hall where he received New Year wishes from National dignitaries.
The delegations were led by the President of the Senate and his bureau followed by the Speaker of the National Assembly and his bureau.

Members of Government were led by the Prime Minister Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute.

Other state institutions also took turns to extend best wishes to the President of the Republic. A cross section of Economic Operators were also part of the attendees of the event.

Head of opportunities political parties were also present, among them was John Fru Ndi of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) party.

After the series of handshakes, the President of the Republic communed with cross section of the population and also had one to one exchanges with some of the dignitaries.
