Cameroon launches eVisa from April 30
Holders of any foreign passport intending to travel to Cameroon as from April 30, 2023 can either obtain an electronic visa at the Consular services of their country of departure or at any of Cameroon’s international Airports.
The information was made public by the Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella while launching the digital Visa platform in Yaounde this Tuesday April 25, 2023.
Flanked by other members of Government and in the presence of diplomatic missions accredited to Yaounde as well as development parts, the Minister hinted that Consular services remain free of charge to holders of diplomatic passports.
He also outlined the tariffs for different category of Visas.
Minister Mbella Mbella said, the electronic visas issuance system comes with enormous benefits for applicants who can now apply and obtain the travel documents with 24 hours.
He added that the new system puts an end to long cues in front of Consular services leaving applicants the flexibility of carrying out the entire process from the comfort of their smartphones, tablets or computer with an internet connection.
Cameroon eVisa Procedure
The electric visa can be obtained through four steps:
1- Online pre-enrollment on the website: www.evisacam.cm
The process involves creating an account on the online platform and filling the application form
2- Payments of Visa Fees
The applicant will have to choose an preferred mode of payment either via PayPal, Mastercard or Visa
3- Processing of the Application
An online VISA Issuance Authorisation or a notification of appointment scheduling at the Diplomatic Mission or Consular post within 72 hours following The Online Pre-Enrolment is issued to the applicant after Visa fees have been paid
Where the application is rejected, the applicant shall be notified by mail or SMS
4 – Biometric Enrolment and Visa Issuance
Any Applicant residing in a City with a Diplomatic Mission or Consular Post should report directly to the said Mission or Consular Post to proceed with their Biometric Enrollment and have the Visa sticker affixed to their passport.
Applicants residing in cities far from the Diplomatic Mission or Consular Post and those residing in countries not covered by Cameroon’s Diplomatic Mission or Consular post should, along with the documents submitted during the application and the online Visa Issuance authorisation, report to the International Airports of Douala and Yaounde Or to any Land or Maritime
Border Post.
eVisa Fees
The cost of obtaining various categories of Visa to visit Cameroon varies from free to 200 thousand CFAF.
According to the Minister, Visas for transit, diplomatic and courtesy visits are free.
Ordinary short stay Visa of up to six months costs, 100 thousand CFAF while Express Short stay Visa of six months costs 150 thousand CFAF.
Applicants for Ordinary long stay Visa of up to 12 months will disburse 150 CFAF while those for Express Long day of the same period will pay 200 thousand CFAF.
The electronic visas system officially takes effect in Cameroon and all her Diplomatic Missions and Consular Services as from Sunday April 30, 2023.
