Easter 2023: The Empty Tomb, Foundation of Christian Faith
Christians of Presbyterian Church Bastos in Yaounde have been exhorted to set their hearts on Jesus Christ, the Risen Lord for the empty tomb is the foundation on which the Christian faith is built.
The Parish Pastor of Presbyterian Church Bastos, Rev Njongai Polycarp Versha made this statement in his sermon this Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023.
Rev Njongai Polycarp also called on Christians to resurrect from darkness and sin into light, from evil into what is right.
He emphasised that the good news of Easter is that the snare of death has been killed.
A Colourful Easter Celebration
Easter Sunday at Presbyterian Church Bastos was exceptional with an overflow of Christians into the courtyard of the Church premises, proof that many turned out for Church Service today.
The blend of all Choirs and Groups of the Church dressed in their official uniforms added the beauty of this Easter morning.
Parishioners also danced during the service, celebrating the risen Christ.
Time for Dedication and Re-dedication Unto God
The Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion were administered during the service alongside Confirmation for those who had already been baptized.
In their white garments of varied designs, the catechumens took turns to officially be welcomed into the Christian family.
The day ended with the chanting of the Hallelujah Chorus, directed by Peter Essoka and sung by the Congregational Choir of Presbyterian Church Bastos.
