Laquintinie Missing Baby Alert: unfounded Allegations!
The social media outbursts regarding a missing baby has turned to compassion for a mother who suffered a delayed miscarriage.
The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie set the records straight during a crisis meeting held on Thursday April 6, 2023 in Douala with authorities of the hospital, and other persons involved in the case.
At the end of the meeting, allegations of a baby theft at the Laquintinie hospital in Douala were dismissed.
Present at the meeting was the victim; Mme Esther Bell, her lawyer Barrister Nkamwah Limen and officials of the Laquintinie hospital, headed by the Director Prof. Essomba Noel Emmanuel.
“There was no theft of a baby, because there wasn’t a baby. There should have been a baby for theft to take place, but there was no baby. Mme Belle had a pregnancy which did not go beyond six months, and we have been told she had a delayed miscarriage,” Dr Manaouda Malachie said.
At the end of the meeting, Mme Esther Bell’s lawyer told the press that the family had decided to end investigations into the case.
“We came to a conclusion that the baby was still a foetus which was discarded. Those explanations made us come to a conclusion that there was no child stolen. We all; my client and her family judge it necessary to put an end to this investigation.
Mme Esther Bell says she is now at peace after investigations have revealed the truth of the matter.
“ Before I had so many questions about this situation, but they have been addressed. I am leaving this place to go and mourn because I know what became of the foetus. I thank God, the medical team and the administration,” Mme Esther Bell told the media.
The Minister’s visit and the ensuing investigation puts an end to the social media buzz on the purported theft of a baby at the Laquintinie Hospital on March 30.
New Measures Applicable during Child Birth
The public health boss has disclosed new modalities for child birth in all hospitals in Cameroon. He announced that henceforth, a pregnant woman must provide one trustworthy person who will accompany her throughout the delivery process.
