2023 Cup of Cameroon: The Finalists; PWD of Bamenda Vs Fovu of Baham

First time for the Bamenda-based side, PWD Football Club to face-off Fovu of Baham at the finals of the Cup of Cameroon. The two teams have met five times in their football history and in three clashes both finalists settled for draws, Fovu won twice and PWD just once and one of their programmed game was cancelled.


PWD is up for her fourth outing at the finals at the Cup of Cameroon same like her counterpart , Fovu of Baham ,call them Grottes de Fovu á Baham. PWD has raised the trophy just once in 2021 while Fovu counts two titles in 2001 and 2010.

PWD of Bamenda

Created some 61 years ago that is 1962 as Social Club of the Delegation of the Ministry of Public Works in the North West region, PWD alias P – Ton Ton or Abakwa Boys defeated Stade of Bandjoun 2-1 in Douala to sail through to this prestigious stage of the competition.

Infact, Abakwa Boys had a historic journey to the finals after recording five victories in five outings, that is from the 64th rounds to the finals;

PWD defeated Astres of Douala 1-0  to win her maiden Cup of Cameroon in 2021. The Abakwa Boys count one title at the Elite One championship registered in 2000

At the level of the CAF Champions League, the club reached the qualifying rounds in 2020-2021 and ended at the first round of the CAF Confederations Cup in 2004

PWD lost in 1967 to Canon Sportif  Yaounde in a 1-0 match at the finals,  3-1 to Dynamo of Douala in 1979 and overpowered Astres 1-0 to win in 2021

Fovu of Baham

The Grottes à Fovu as it is referred to  is on her fourth appearance at the finals of the Cup Cameroon after lifting two trophies in 2001 and 2010.

The Baham based club defeated Colombe of the Dja and Lobo 12-11 in penalties after playing a one all tie during normal time. Indeed, Fovu lost none of her five games and settled for a place at this prestigious stage in the Cup of Cameroon.FC

Apart from winning the cup of Cameroon twice, Fovu of Baham won the Elite One Championship in 2006, emerged victorious two times in 2000 and 2001 in the Super Cup of Cameroon and finalist of the UNIFFAC in 2006.
