2023 CEMAC Nanbudo Cup: Cameroon emerges overall best Again
Host, Cameroon grabbed eighteen medals in individual and combat junior and senior categories of the Nanbudo with fifteen of them in gold and three others in silver at the just ended 4th edition of the 2023 Nanbudo CEMAC Cup organised at the Mfandena Gymnasium in Yaounde
This is the fourth consecutive edition in which Cameroon has marked a different and stayed at the top of the medal chart amongst the other five participating CEMAC countries of Chad, CAR, Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
Special guest to the 2023 CEMAC Nanbudo Cup, Burundi highlighted her participation in Cameroon with fifteen medals in all with five of them in gold to settle for the prestigious second position after host, Cameroon
The Central African Republic, CAR won a single gold medal and one silver while Chad leaves Cameroon as the fourth on the medal chart with one and one silver medal in the individual and teams combat demonstration.
The win has cemented Cameroon’s stronghold in the Nanbudo discipline in the continent and the world scenes. Just to note that Cameroon is one of the best in this domain of sports, the national selection grabbed 18 gold medals in their last outing at the same tournament
According to the Cameroon’s President of Nanbudo, Prof Justine Diffo, it was a platform to strengthen diplomatic ties through sports with the five CEMAC states and Burundi.
The black belt winner in Nanbudo since 1994, also stated that the Nanbudo athletes in Cameroon will set immediately to work to prepared for the 2024 African Nanbudo Chamionship
The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who presided over the closing and the colourful medal ceremony lauded the initiative of the Cameroon Nanbudo Federation and their successful hosting of the 4th edition. He thanked the sport actors for using sports to cement relationships with friendly countries
The event was marked with a show of cultural displays highlighting the four cultural zone of Cameroon. Amongst the top sports personalities were officials from the African Nanbudo Confederation and the Secretary General of the World Wide Nanbudo Federation.
