2023 BRICS Summit: Cameroon’s Delegation Arrives South Africa
The Prime Minister – Head of Government is in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he is scheduled to represent President Paul Biya at the 15th summit of BRICS countries which opens this Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
Joseph Dion Ngute who arrived in the South African city this Monday, is heading a delegation from Cameroon, which includes some members of government and senior government aides.
The BRICS summit to run from August 22 to 24, 2023 is focusing on the theme: “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism.”
Heads of State and Government from some seventy countries have been invited to take part in the deliberations, alongside BRICS member countries; Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
Cameroon’s delegation led by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute landed in Johannesburg, South Africa at 4:15 am local time, which is about 3:15am Monday morning Cameroon time.
Joseph Dion Ngute was received in the entrance to the mobile staircase by the South African Minister of Home Affairs, Aaron Motsoaledi who then conveyed the Prime Minister to the entrance of the VIP lounge where the official reception featuring military unit and the flags of the two countries took place.
Cameroon’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Solomon Azoh-Mbi was also at hand to welcome the Head of Government.
Joseph Dion Ngute is leading a delegation which includes the Minister of External Relations, Mbella Mbella, The Minister Delegate in the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Paul Tasong, the Minister, director of cabinet at the Prime Minister’s office, Balingeli Confiance Ebune and a host of senior government aides.

The summit is holding under the theme; “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism.”
Some forty Heads of State and Government have been invited to join the BRICS countries during the discussions from August 22 to 24, at the Santon Centre, which shall be geared towards Promoting partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, sustainable development and inclusive Multilateralism amongst members.
At least 40 Heads of State and Government from across the world are expected to join the titular BRICS members; Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa.
Elvis Teke
