2023 Cup of Cameroon in Sambo: Mboa Sport of Yaoundé Crowded National Champions

The Cup of Cameroon finals in Sambo also served as qualifiers for the world championships scheduled for November 2023 in Armenia.

100 fighters and 25 officials including referees of local, continental and global repute took part in the event that saw fifty fights in the Sambo Combat and Sambo Sports.

Mboa Sport of Yaoundé emerged winners the 2023 Cameroon of Cup in Sambo after harvesting 11 medals including 8 in gold, 2 in silver and one in bronze.

The Armed Forces and Police team, FAP was ranked second with a total of 20 metals; 6 in gold, 7 in silver and 7 in bronze.

The Yaoundé Academy of Arts was with 6 medals; one in gold, 3 in silver and two in bronze.

The Cameroon Cup of Sambo 2023 which was organized alongside the Grand Prix Jean Paul Mbouelle was chaired on behalf of the Minister of Sports and Physical Education by the head of the regulatory unit at the Sports Ministry, Njome Nsako Gaston.

He expressed his great satisfaction at the success of the tournament, and urged the President of the Cameroon Sambo Federation, François Mbassi to engage preparations for the world championships.
