Back to school 2023: Basic education officials prepare for a smooth start
The new academic year in Cameroon begins in less than one month, and administrative authorities have begun preparing for a hitch-free start.
Basic education officials from the central and devolved services held a consultative meeting on August 10 in Yaounde. The consultative meeting was chaired by the Minister of Basic Education, Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa.
“ We are taking stock of our achievements last year in order to correct the lapses and improve other areas,” Minister Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa said.
Officials from the central and devolved services evaluated the pedagogic, administrative and financial reports of the previous academic year.
The officials are working on making the school environment conducive for learners and providing efficient services.
“ We have to instill moral values and digitalize learning during the upcoming academic year to avoid wasting time,” Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa told CRTV.
The officials have also taken special measures to fight the growing problems of violence, and drug consumption, from the first day of the academic year.
