Diplomacy: President of Union of Comoros Travels through Yaounde

The President of the Union of Comoros, Azali Assoumani who is also current President of the African Union for the year 2023 has made a technical stopover at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport.

President Azali Assoumani was on his way to Senegal. The plane transporting President Azali Assoumani touched down around 13:30PM.

He was received at the foot of the plane by Felix Mbayu, Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, accompanied by some administrative authorities in the region.

A detachment of the Presidential Guard was at the airport to render honours to the President.

After the welcome civilities, the President of Comoros and the Minister Delegate held discussions that lasted over an hour.
Nothing filtered out of the close-door discussions.

Prior to the technical stopover, President Azali Assoumani had visited Cameroon in the year 2020 during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

He was also guest of President Paul Biya of Cameroon during the National Day celebration on May 2020.

The technical stopover is testimony of the strong bilateral ties between the Union of Comoros and the Republic of Cameroon.

At the end of the close-door meeting, the President left the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport for Dakar, Senegal.
