Municipal BRICS forum 2023: Cameroon Explores Partnership Avenues
Municipal Authorities from Cameroon and Russia have discussed possibilities for the signing of partnerships for technology transfer for the exploitation and transformation of diverse natural resources available in Cameroon.
The discussions took place at the 5th international municipal BRICS forum that took place in saint Petersburg, Russia.
The Cameroonian delegation was made of 25 persons; among them mayors, businessmen and the President of the East Regional Council invited foreign partners to invest in Cameroon.
“For cameroon to meet it’s 2035 vision of becoming an emergent nation, priority should be on the education of the children especially in the domains of sciences and technology” Cameroon IMBRICS Consultant, Dr. Joël Trésor Nyonkaa highlighted in a panel discussion.
The President of the East Regional Council, Wouamane MBELE said a fruitful collaboration between his region and other federal governments like that of saint Petersburg will help bring forth ideas centered on Socio economic development.
Opportunities in the agricultural sector were also highlighted, presenting it as a major sector to invest in Cameroon.
The IMBRICS Ambassador to Cameroon Alphonse OTSAMZOK was hailed for his numerous efforts in mobilizing Cameroonian Partners to the Forum. He was given a special award.
A BRICS delegation is expected in Cameroon early next year for field work.
On the sideline of the event, a Gala match took place between participants at the forum, a means to Strengthen cooperations.
At least 7000 participants from some 56 countries attended the 5th international municipal BRICS+ forum.
